5 Bloggers with Practical Help & Inspiration

I’m going to share some of the bloggers I’ve followed that really changed my life for the better.

By the end of this post, you will discover not only where to get excellent info on all things healthy living – including skin care and makeup – but I’ve also included 2 of my favorite websites that focus on nurturing the heart and seeking God above all else!

Ready? Let’s dive in!

These are in no particular order – I don’t have an absolute favorite – and just to be clear – I’m not endorsing everything they say….especially the beauty boggers –  lots of their info on health and skin care is spot on….but as with anything you read, you must examine it for yourself!

1. Courageous Parenting – Isaac and Angie Tolpin

A parenting blog you may ask? I realize my blog is about clean skin care and makeup….but nurturing our hearts relates to our outward beauty more than you may think. This couple has a tremendous podcast and resources available. If you are looking for solid Biblical principles and encouragement in marriage, parenting, homeschooling, or even just encouragement for living in the days ahead – then definitely check them out!

There tagline is, “Raising confident Christian kids, in an uncertain world,” This has been their main theme since starting their ministry two years ago, and boy isn’t that relevant for the times we are living in right now?! – Oh, and she also is very much into natural living, oils, etc…..so see, they have some resources on “clean” living as well! But really, one of my go to podcasts/sites!

You can learn more about them here.

2. Wellness Mama

Katie Wells is the founder of Wellness Mama and I’ve followed her site for many years. She has lots of great info on all things having to do with clean living, and provides lots of research to back up her blog posts. While I don’t agree with everything she says or all her viewpoints, I have found lots of great help for DIY cold and flu remedies, boosting our immune systems, supplements and healthy eating, and ridding our homes of toxic products.

She also has DIY skin care and makeup recipes on her blog, as well as her own line of skin, hair, and beauty products available at  www.wellnesse.com. Her writing and blog are not from a Biblical worldview, and I don’t listen to very many of her podcasts, but she is included on my top 5 because anytime we are sick, or have health issues, I know I can go to her site and she likely has an article on it and has done some research – it’s often my starting point.

3. The Prairie Homestead

I’m not a homesteader, but after reading her blog I kinda want to be! I included her blog on my list of 5 because her story and journey are inspiring. Her and her husband refer to themselves as “city” kids who had a desire to buy some property that was in need of a lot of TLC, and have basically spent the last decade turning it into a viable homestead.

She has tons of info on homemade cooking, canning, DIY recipes for food as well as skin care and clean living. And she has lots of real life pictures to go with her journey.  It also is a very easy to read and navigate site! If you are new to this idea that you could actually “make” your own skin care, or even think that because you didn’t grow up tending gardens and making your own stuff, but you have a desire to learn any of those things, then you will love this website!

You can learn more about her site at theprairiehomesteamd.com

4. Mommypotamus

I have followed Heather for several years now. One of the things I love most about her blog/site, is that she is all about the research. She tackles hard topics, and finds medical professionals and holistic practitioners and shares research from both. Her topics range from beauty, to health, to kitchen recipes. I have also tried many of her DIY skin care, shampoo, and other beauty recipes she shares!

I want to add, I don’t agree with/or follow everything she says – her writing is not from a Biblical worldview, but anytime we are sick, or struggling with any particular health or skin issues, I go to her site to see if she has any info on what we are dealing with, and usually she does!

5. Simply Living for Him

Karen DeBeus has been on my radar for a few years now. She does not blog about clean skin care and living….but she does blog about always living for Jesus. She is a homeschooling mama of 4, and she is just very real and authentic, shares her struggles and victories, and just has such a sincere desire to share that Jesus is the answer for all the chaos and clutter in our hearts.

I love her simple message of encouragement, and I regularly have listened to her podcast and kept up with her blog. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, or just need to be reminded that often less is more, I always click over to her site!

Conclusion

I realize there is a lot of variety in the above list. Certainly there are many many more blogs on each of these topics. I couldn’t possibly list all the ones that inspired or encouraged me in some way, but these are some of my “go tos”. I love them all for differing reasons.

Some of you might be surprised that I would add other bloggers that also share similar info to what I will be providing – why would I do that? That’s easy…..because I’ve never been one to think that I have some big secret and everyone needs to just look to me for the answer! Sure I want you to read my blog, but I’d be crazy if I didn’t want you to read other blogs as well!

The reason I am here today, making and selling my products, desiring to help you learn how you can make your own products as well, is because I gleaned info and encouragement from each of these bloggers above. I want to be that for you – provide a nugget of encouragement or help along your way, whether your goal is to save money by making your own products, to be healthier, or focus on your inner beauty and how that radiates in every area of your life.

So today, feel free to reach out to me and let me know what interests you most – is it saving money? being healthier? or simply trying to focus on your inner beauty? Feel free to email me or post in the comments!
