What comes to mind when you first hear hyaluronic acid? Something unnatural? Chemical based? Actually…..hyaluronic acid is something God designed our bodies to naturally make – it helps our body, from our skin to our joints! As we age, naturally we make a decreased amount of this, leading to drier skin, stiffer joints, etc…..
Hyaluronic Acid can actually absorb up too (and possibly more) 1000x it’s weight in water – this is good news for hydrating our skin! I’ve read where the appearance of wrinkles can be reduced by 10-30% by using hyaluronic acid! You will notice reduced fine lines, plumper skin, and just a more dewy and smoother appearance and feel.
MANY over the counter products contain HA. And it turns out, it’s not that hard to work with or incorporate into a serum. And no, I am not ultra smart. I’ve simply followed other bloggers, skin care sites, gathered and gleaned info and recipes and then taken that info and tried and tweaked and tested. Anyone could do it (most are just not quite as geeky about this stuff as me!)
The base of this serum is Rose Hydrosol – this helps to soothe skin, reduces inflammation, has antiseptic properties, contains antioxidants, and also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!!
Wrinkle Defense Complex – this is from a website known as Lotioncrafter. This is an “aging well” powerhouse of ingredients. This contains ingredients that are NOT 100% natural, but in separating them all out, none of them registered above a 3 on EWG’s scale of harmful ingredients, and that was only 1 of them, all the rest registered a 1. These are the ingredients that comprise the Wrinkle Defense Complex: Water (and) Glycerin (and) Butylene Glycol (and) Carbomer (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (and) Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. I know, a lot of big words…..after looking these up I decided the benefit this gives this serum is worth it, and I feel comfortable using it on my own skin. Feel free to holler at me if you have questions – I may not have the answers, but I’d be happy to answer questions if I can!
Leucidal Liquid – This is a preservative that is a must since this is a water based formula – it is a very clean preservative – it registers a 1 (lowest possible score) on EWG’s site. I have no problem using this in this formula.
And then we have the essential oils that are included! Because this is getting long I will discuss those more in another post, but they too are “aging well” boosters, they smell wonderful, and are so good for your skin!
Lastly…..all this is in vanity if it’s not done with the right perspective. We can get so focused on ourselves, on our appearance, on what we wish was different, etc……but my prayer is that if you use these products, it will be framed in the right mindset. Of course I pray it will deliver instant (which it has for me and the many many people that have tested it!) results, as well as long term benefits, but most of all I pray it will encourage you. How so? I want beautiful skin for you as well as myself, but sometimes the more we focus, and critique, and get to scrutinizing it all, the unhappier and less content we get! My prayer for each order that leaves my door is that the recipient would care for their skin, their body, but most importantly their heart…..they would surrender areas to the Lord that need surrendered, they would realize that He sees the heart, and that comparing ourselves to anything we see in this world is fruitless, covetousness, and will lead us to be discontented no matter what. So let’s do what we can to care for ourselves, within our means, with what we have, and keep in perspective that in eternity it matters not at all if we haven’t filled our heart up with HIM!
